Hurricane Eta

On November 1, 2020 Hurricane Eta hit Honduras.  The overall damage of this hurricane will leave the country in pieces for the following months and possibly recovering for years.  Eta was a category 4 hurricane that flooded the local airport, destroyed thousands of homes, and over 200,000 families were affected.  Many people are homeless searching for shelter and food to survive this crushing disaster.

Unfortunately, Our Home of Refuge Internacional was affected by this destructive storm as well.  The orphanage lost some of its hired workers because their homes were demolished. In order to help the orphanage overcome this hardship of being shorthanded, we also be provided money to pay for a worker to help the orphanage in their daily routine.  These tasks would include cleaning, feeding, and helping the kids to make sure they are living in a healthy environment.

Along with the pandemic, the hurricane has brought life threatening circumstances to these children.

With limited resources, the Honduran government also shifted their focus from giving financial support to the orphanages to hurricane relief.  This increases the need for our help.
